Angry crowds blocked both the A 9 and A 6 roads from Dambulla yesterday (13) in protest over the non-availability of fuel.
Crowds had been queuing up for hours outside filling station in the area yesterday but eventually proceeded block the roads for traffic completely because they were told in the evening that no fuel bowsers were coming.
Even police and the army who were called into the location were unable to restore order as people demanded that authorities stop lying to them and provide fuel.
The protesters kept the roads blocked for traffic until well into the night.
