A wild elephant attack on a coconut plantation was reported last night in north Kokkuthuduwai and Karnatukeni located in Mullaitivu District, destroying over 2000 coconuts and some trees, residents said.
During the attack by the herd, residents had managed to escape to safe areas amid the rain.
Residents request authorities to take immediate action in order to prevent wild elephants from invading the villagers as it causes a havoc, disrupting the livelihood of the farming community.
