The visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla called on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa a short while ago after his visits to Kandy, Trincomalee and Jaffna.
He is due to call on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as well later in the day.
Mr Shringla during his visit to Jaffna pledged that they will fund the maintenance of the Jaffna Cultural Centre for five years. The centre construction funded by India is due to be opened shortly.
The Jaffna Municipal Council was unable to find funds to maintain the centre.
Meanwhile on Sunday (3) the Foreign Secretary visited the lower tank oil farms in Trincomalee maintained by the Lanka IOC.
India is looking at further strengthening India-Sri Lanka energy partnership to enhance Sri Lanka’s energy security.
Lanka IOC runs 15 out of the 99 storage tanks in the lower oil tank farm in Trincomalee. In total there are 99 tanks spread out in 850 acres.
