Headline inflation, as measured by the year-on-year (Y-o-Y) change in the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI, 2013=100), increased to 11.1 per cent in November 2021 from 8.3 per cent in October 2021, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) said.
Meanwhile, on an annual average basis, the NCPI increased to 6.2 per cent in November 2021 from 5.7 per cent in October 2021.

Subsequently, food inflation (Y-o-Y) increased to 16.9 per cent in November 2021 from 11.7 per cent in October 2021, while non-food inflation (Y-o-Y) also increased to 6.2 per cent in November 2021 from 5.4 per cent in October 2021,” the CBSL said.
Monthly change of NCPI recorded at 3.14 per cent in November 2021 due to increases observed in prices of items in both food and non-food categories which were 2.61 per cent and 0.53 per cent, respectively.
Accordingly, within the food category, prices of vegetables, rice, milk powder, big onions, fresh fish and chicken increased.
