Jaffna Municipal Council passed its annual budget-2022 today by three votes after the divided Council decided to put on a vote. Altogether 24 votes were cast in support of the budget while 21 votes were against the budget.
A sprinter faction of 10 councillors elected from Tamil National Peoples Alliance (TPF) that support Mayor V. Manivannan, another ten councillors from Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) and four others from the United National Party (UNP) and Sri Lanka Freedom Party voted in favour of the budget.
Meanwhile, 16 councillors from Tamil National Alliance, three TNPF Councilors and two UNP Counselor's voted against the budget.
