John Keells CG Auto (Pvt) Ltd (JKCG), the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in Sri Lanka, has rejected reports over claims that its BYD vehicles had a higher power than what was declared.
“We would like to reassure our key stakeholders and the public that, contrary to certain claims circulating in mainstream and social media, the vehicles in question imported directly from the manufacturer, BYD in China, are 100 kW models. These are identical to the models offered for sale in some other international markets such as Singapore,” the statement said.
The motor power of these vehicles has been verified through test reports issued by BYD in China and further certified by an independent testing body. As a responsible corporate, JKCG also confirms that all vehicle imports have been conducted in full compliance with applicable local regulations.
It said the company is actively engaged in discussions with the relevant authorities to clarify the matters raised on the vehicle models and are providing all necessary documentation to support this process.
“We remain committed to transparency and are cooperating fully with the authorities to provide all clarifications regarding this matter. JKCG will continue to keep its customers and other stakeholders informed as the matter progresses,” the statement added.
