A Gazette Notification issued by the Secretary to President Saman Ekanayake following directives issued by President Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the gazette was being issued after having consulted with the Prime Minister under Article 44 (3) of the Constitution.
The realignment of the portfolio came following the recent decision by Minister Wijeydasa Rajapakshe to resign from his cabinet portfolio in order to contest in the upcoming Presidential polls.
