The tusker, “Indira Raja ", a gift by former Premier of India Indra Ghandi to the Sri Dalada Malgawa was chosen to carry the sacred tooth relic on the first day of the Kandy Esala Kumbal Perheara which commenced yesterday.
"Indira Raja " has been the Lead Tusker even at the last Perahera in 2024.
There were 12 Tuskers of Sri Dalada Maligawa; participating in the Maligawsa section of the Perahera. The Four Devales of God Natha, Maha Vihsnu,Katargama and Godeess Pathi participated in the Perahera,
The route was short and large crowds with children were present.
The DiyawadanaNilame Pradeep Nilaga Dela took his place behind the Tusker.
