Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. has slashed the price of domestic LP gas cylinders with effect from midnight today (4) based on the pricing formula for gas, Litro Chairman Muditha Peiris told a press conference.
Accordingly, the price of a 12.5kg LP gas cylinder has been reduced by Rs. 1005 and the new price will be Rs. 3738.
The price of a 5kg gas cylinder has been slashed by Rs. 402 and the new price will be Rs. 1502. The price of a 2.3kg gas cylinder will come down by Rs. 183, with the new price being Rs. 700.
A combination of factors contributed to the company being able to reduce gas prices so significantly, the Litro Chairman stated. These include the global reduction in gas prices, the strengthening of the Sri Lankan Rupee and the pricing formula introduced by Litro Gas with the approval of the Finance Ministry and the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA), the Chairman observed.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the All Island Restaurant Association, Asela Sampath states that they would be reducing the prices of fried rice and kotthu.
They would be making the calculations today and announcing the reductions of prices tomorrow.
