An appeal has been filed on behalf of former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage who has been sentenced for 20 years for the unlawful purchase of Carrom and checker boards, causing a loss of Rs 53 million to the state.
The appeal has been submitted to the Colombo High Court to be presented to the Supreme court
Former Sathosa Chairman, Nalin Fernando, who was found guilty in the same case is also due to appeal against his sentence of 25 years.
