The Mount Lavinia Police has initiated an inquest into the suspicious death of an individual residing in the Pochchiwatta area at Thelawala, Mount Lavinia.
The deceased has been identified as a 38 year old bus driver who is a resident of Welithenna area in Balangoda district. He had rented out the residence along with another person.
His roommate had apparently informed that a third party had reportedly made the brother of the deceased aware of the fact that he had been lying suspiciously at home on Thursday – 19 Jan. Subsequently, it is said that the brother of the deceased has then stopped by the residence, where he found the victim lying dead, naked and surrounded with blood yesterday – 20 Jan, Sri Lanka Police reported.
While a magisterial inquisition is currently underway, the body of the deceased has been placed at the morgue of the Kalubowila South Teaching Hospital to carry out the postmortem examination.
