Rains and strong winds are forecasted on December 24 and 25 as the low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal is expected to move across the country.
“The low-pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression and is located 420k.m. to the northeast of Trincomalee. It is very likely to cross Sri Lanka on December 24 and 25. Under the influence of this system, rainy and windy conditions are likely to increase over most parts of the island,” the Meteorology Department said.
Shower will occur in Northern, Eastern, Uva and North-Central provinces tomorrow while strong winds are expected in Northern, Eastern, Western, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, the Department said.
