More SriLankan flights delayed

SriLankan Airlines flights to several destinations were delayed over the weekend causing inconvenience to passengers.

The latest delay experienced was the flight to Melbourne, Australia early this morning. The flight was delayed by two hours.

On the previous day too the same flight was delayed by three hours.

A passenger due to travel on the flight said that as a result he would be missing the connecting domestic flight and would not be able to make it to an important business meeting.

Another SriLankan flight due to depart to Kathmandu, Nepal was also delayed earlier Sunday leaving 200 passengers stranded. Among them stranded was State Minister Sisira Jayakdoy.

The flight was due leave at 8.20 am from Bandaranaike International Airport and passengers had board the flight at 7.15 a.m, but did not take off even at 11.00 am due to a technical defect.

Eventually the flight was cancelled.

State Minister Jayakody said that a number of tourists were also inconvenienced.

Also, it is reported that the flights scheduled to arrive at Katunayake Airport from Trivandrum in India, Male in Maldives, Chennai in India, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Narita in Japan were also delayed.

Meanwhile the issue of flight delays is due to be taken up at a discussion between Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and airline officials today morning.

    Srilankan airline is fallen in to a misery due to the bad action of politicians.It used to be a best airline in the world.It has won a award as a best airline.In my experience the member of the staff are very kind caring and very humble.I love to travel by our national carrier.It is very attractive to the tourists.Hope fully our national carrier will be survive and get back to the normal service.It is booster our economy.
