The Negombo Bharatha Association launched its centenary year celebrations at its Annual General Meeting on Sunday (27th October 2024).
The meeting was held at the Mary Croos Raj Chandra community hall which was an outright grant of this generous ancestor and benefactor of not only the Bharatha Association of Negombo but also other major projects in Negombo but also in several other areas of Sri Lanka, the Association said.

consented to continue in office in the ensuing year. Most of the rest of the exco too will continue to hold office as this year is a very historic year in its annals, the Association added.
“A program of events will be decided by the new exco. Apart from a traditional “Light Fantastic” the other events thus far considered are a festive High Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Grand Street Negombo which has been supported on numerous occasions by our ancestors and the current membership. A charitable event such as the colour washing a couple of wards of the Negombo General Hospital, a donation to a Children’s Home and a Home for the Elders will also be undertaken,” the Association added.
