New school term announced
Minister of Education Susil Premajanyantha announced today that the new school term of government and government-approved schools will begin on February 2 next year (2024).
Holidays will be given on December 22.
The G. C. E. Advanced Level examination is scheduled to take place in January 2024.

Customs seize Rs. 119 Mn worth of cigarettes and whisky hidden in furniture shipment
In a major detection at the Ceylon Shipping Lines (CSL) warehouse in Colombo 09, Sri Lanka Customs officers uncovered a large consignment of contraband cigarettes and whisky concealed within a shipment declared as household furniture and personal goods.
