The Transport and Highways Ministry has ordered to stop charging fees from shops located close to roadways of the Road Development Authority (RDA).
The directive followed reports that the RDA was charging rent from shops besides roadsways coming under their purview.
The Ministry said that further directions on this issue were due to issued.
Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
