Despite the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country, no decision has been taken to impose an island-wide lockdown, Army Commander Lt.Gen. Shavendra Silva said this evening.
Instead of an island-wide lockdown, the Army Commander stated that an area will be isolated without prior notice when COVID cases spiked in the said area.
He made the clarification as Sri Lanka recorded more than 1000 COVID-19 patients for the second straight day today. A total of 1451 COVID patients were reported today, beating yesterday's record of 1111 patients.
