One-hour power cuts will be imposed between 5.30pm and 9.30pm from today (12) until further notice, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said.
The power cuts are being imposed due to the breakdown of a privately owned generator near the Kelanitissa power plant. The generator broke down yesterday, resulting in power being cut to multiple areas in the country.
The power cuts imposed from today will continue until the generator is restored, the CEB stated.
The power cuts will be imposed according to the manual load shedding schedule released by the CEB earlier this week.
