More than 55, 000 persons in 11 districts have been affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions, according to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).
The DMC's latest situation report notes that 55, 561 persons from 15, 713 families have been affected by the adverse weather.
The Northern Province has been hardest hit, with 53, 152 persons from 15, 128 families being affected. The overwhelming majority of those affected are in the Mannar district, where 43, 679 persons from 12, 485 families are among the affected.
One house has been classified as being fully damaged while 131 others have suffered partial damage. The DMC also states that 19 small and medium enterprises have also suffered damage.
The DMC adds that 1731 persons from 535 families are currently being houses at 22 safe locations.
