Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has resigned from his post.
In a letter addressed to outgoing President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Mr. Gunawardena announced he is resigning from the post.
“As the 9th President of Sri Lanka was elected at the presidential election held on 21 September 2024, I respectfully inform you that, I hereby resign as the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in accordance.l with the Article 47 (2) (b) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.”
“I greatly appreciate your highest support given while serving our motherland as Prime Minister, “he said in the resignation letter.
