Political parties backing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) party government met today and discussed recent political developments including the signing of an agreement to sell 40 per cent of the Kerawalapitiya plant and the gas pipeline and terminal power plant to an US company.
Leader of the Jathika Nidhas Peramuna Wimal Weerawansa after the meeting told journalists that the issue of the signing of the agreement was among the issues taken up.
However, he declined to comment on the decisions reached saying that it will be conveyed in due course.
JVP Leader Anura Kumara on Sunday said that government has signed a midnight agreement to sell 40% of the Kerawalapitiya power plant and the gas pipeline and terminal power plant to the US company.
He said that the agreement was signed at 12:06 AM on Saturday (18) and the US investors left two hours later.
