Pilot project to introduce AI to the education system

A pilot project is to be launched to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) to school syllabuses, Cabinet Spokesman Bandula Gunawardene said.

The Minister announced that the cabinet approved the proposal presented by President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (12) in his capacity as the Minister of Technology.

Microsoft will assist in the project as follows,

To revise the international syllabus currently implemented by the Microsoft institute based on the recommendations of the National Institute of Educational and commence the proposed pilot projects from grade 8 in schools where the necessary basic human resources are available.
Digitization of schools selected for the pilot project under the facilities provided by the Microsoft institute.
Training of 100 Information and Communication Technology subject teachers as trainers by Microsoft Institute.

All bilateral loans postponed until 2028; President

In his special statement, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that debt restructuring agreements will postpone all bilateral loan payments to foreign countries until 2028. Additionally, Sri Lanka will have until 2043 to repay these loans on concessional terms.
