Police have recovered a locally manufactured firearm, sword, a motorbike and a foreign made hand grenade allegedly used in the armed robbery that took place on Sunday where robbers escaped with cash and jewellery.
On Monday, police arrested three suspects in connection with the armed robbery that took place in Thanamalvila on Sunday night.
The suspects, aged 22, 27 and 30 years are residents of Suriyawewa, Thanamalvila and Ampara were arrested with a foreign made hand grenade and 6.15 grams of heroin, Police Media Unit said.
They were produced before the Wellawaya Magistrate's Court yesterday, where they were ordered to be kept in detention and questioned for 24 hours and the weaponry used in the robbery were recovered based on their statements, police said.
