Sapugaskanda Police are probing whether a dispute with State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera’s son and a rival group led to an attack on the Minister’s residence in the area on Sunday night.
An unidentified group broke into one of the residences of Minister Ranaweera around 11 on Sunday night and caused damages to the house. The Minister or his family members were not present at the time of the attack.
However, a security guard said the group had called for the Minister and his son during the attack.
Minister Ranaweera told reporters that his son had intervened in a dispute which his friend had, but was not sure whether it was the reason for the attack.
During last year’s incidents of violence, another house of the Minister was damaged .
