Distribution of mail has been crippled due to a 24 hour strike by postal workers currently underway over a range of issues including an overtime dispute, officials said.
The strike launched last evening is due to continue until evening today.
With the work at the Central Mail Exchange and other post offices disrupted the mail distribution too has been affected while services provided from post offices and sub post offices too have been affected.
Spokesman for the Trade Union Chinthaka Bandara said that attempts to resolve the issues had failed and therefore they were forced to call for the strike.
