The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Defence chaired by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa met in Parliament today (08).
The President, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Defence, participated in the meeting where the Minister Chamal Rajapaksa, Ministers, State Ministers and Members of Parliament discussed a number of issues and proposals.
Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake, Defence Secretary, Major General (Retd.) Kamal Gunaratne, Commanders of the three-Armed Forces and the Inspector General of Police were also present at the meeting.

The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
