The Ministry of Power and Energy decided to give priority for Priven (Monastic collages) when installing the solar panels.
Decision was made at during a discussion held during a meeting between Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara and Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickramanayaka.
A meeting it was further discussions were made on the program of installing solar panels on top of selected religious places. It was also decided to include selected religious places into the programme where state buildings are converted into solar power consuming buildings under the Indian credit line.
It was decided to include the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs selected religious places into the list of places that would be converted to operate under solar power.
