Police have launched an investigation into the murder of a 60-year-old woman at Wewessawatta, Badulla.
The victim had left for work on Sunday (23) but had not returned home. The other inmates in the house had commenced searching for her after she failed to return and had come upon her body lying at a nearby tea estate yesterday (24).
Officers from the Badulla Police, who had arrived at the crime scene after being informed of the discovery, observed that there were injuries to the victim's face and various parts of the body. Aside from the footwear worn by the victim, police also found an additional pair near her body.
The body is currently being kept at the location under police guard until and a magisterial inquiry is due to be held today. Badulla Police are investigating.
