Mr. K. D. N. Ranjith Asoka has been appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, replacing Mr Neil Bandara Hapuhinna.
Mr Hapuhinna has been given a posting as the Senior Additional Secretary in the President’s office.
Mr Hapuhinna was involved in the controversy of issuing directions to the District Secretaries not to accept deposits for the Local Government nominations. However hours later he withdrew the circular.
No action was taken against him after he apologized to the Election Commission.
