A retired Navy Medical assistant was arrested for obtaining bribes amounting Rs 300,000 promising to get a student admitted to Visakaha Vidyalaya Colombo.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested the retired officer after the father of the girl lodged a complaint.
The suspect had promised the complainant that he would to the needful get his daughter into the 2026 grade 01 batch.
Acceding to the Bribery commission the suspect had obtained Rs 100,000 worth of bribes at three times and after the remaining Rs 200,000 from the complainant.
The suspect is to be produced before Colombo Magistrate courts
