SJB launches broad alliance

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) today launched a broad alliance with several political parties and organisations to extend support for SJB  Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.

Among the political parties involved in the alliance are the SLMC, SLFP (Dayasiri Jayasekara faction), Mano Ganesan led alliance of Tamil parties, Nidahase Janatha Sabhawa, Arjuna Ranatunga's Purawesi Handa.

The launch of the alliance took place at the Sugathadasa Indoor stadium.

General Secretary of the SJB, Ranjith Maddumabandara in his welcome address said that that strong and powerful parties have joined them to create the broadest and most powerful alliance “Samgi Jana Sanadanaya” to further strengthen their party.

He said during a time where the country was facing a challenging time and  facing economic and political crisis as well with the collapse of law and order,  the country should be handed over to a correct leader to take correct action required to elevate the country from the current situation.

He added that after decades people in the north, south, east and west as well as the central and upcountry areas of the country are all in favor of the leader.

 He added that under their alliance every one of every religion, ethnic group as well as class as well parties could stand together.

After his address the  agreement between the parties was brought onto the stage by seven youths representing Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslim and burgers) and handed over to the SJB and Samagi Jana Sandanaya’s General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara.

Thereafter the agreement was signed by Presidential candidate Sajith Premadsa and SJB and Madduma Banadara.

 Thereafter the agreement was signed by the leaders of the political groups. Among those who signed the agreement were Rauff Hakeem, Mano Ganesan, Palani Thigambaram, V.S Radhakrishnan, G.L Peris, Dullus Allahappremuma, Dayasiri Jayasekara, Arjuna Ranatunga.

Following the signing of the agreement the alliance parties pledged the oath which covered multiple objectives such confirming security of children and women, improving economy, paying off debt and taking action against the corrupt. 

Presidential candidate  Premadasa addressing crowds  said that Samagi Jana bala Sanadanaya is a public alliance which understands the pain and sorrow of the general public.

He said that their alliance which had stepped away from the subterfuge and infamous politics and provide solutions for the people who are suffering.

Mr premadasa added that their party and alliance is power created out of unity. We got together to end the suffering of 22 million people and create a golden area of development.

“Regardless of language spoken, ethnic group or the party all of us hope to live in an undivided country, by protecting unity through discipline and carrying out a work plan towards creating an excellent motherland is our target” he said
