The Cabinet of Ministers has given the approval to form an expert committee to look into the restructuring of the Railway Department of Sri Lanka. This decision was taken during the Minister's Cabinet meeting held on yesterday (24).
The Cabinet Spokesperson Bandula Gunawardena stated during the Cabinet Decisions press conference that the Secretary of the President had been advised to appoint an expert committee to get recommendations regarding an appropriate structure.
By this, the issues regarding the railway department could be reduced, and the service will be provided at a precise level.
Further, the Railway Department is categorized as an ‘A grade’ government department, he added.
