A Sri Lankan delegation representing Environment Minister Vijitha Herath is participating in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) summit, known as COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22.
The delegation. led by Environment Ministry Secretary Prabath Chandrakeerthi will be carrying a statement from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake related to climate change in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka will be presenting its programmes on climate resilliance, strategies for carbon reduction, green agriculture and agri-food system promotion at the summit. It will also outline its short and long term programme to achieve carbon net-zero for its industrial sector.
