Sri Lanka Podujana Peramauna Parliamentarian Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe complained that he was verbally abused by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, today (16) morning.
Mr Rajapakshe told a news conference that he had also complained to the Inspector General of Police and would be submitting facts in writing.
He said that he is in fear of life and claimed that the President has threatened him via a phone call.
He explained that the President's reaction came following yesterday’s press conference held by him and venerable Muruthettuwe Anananda thera at his temple.
Elaborating further on the incident he said that they exposed dangerous consequences of a secretive draft bill presented to the parliament regarding the port city, without knowledge of government MPs.
“Today morning around 9 am President Gotabaya Rajapaksa gave me a call, I too answered expecting that the President was attempting to discuss and resolve the issue, however the words used by the President was not suitable for a head of state,” he said.
He said that the President behaved in an aggressive manner and was enraged. The MP said that the President was trembling with anger while he was verbally assaulted.
MP Rajapakshe said that unintentionally he too used similar wording to respond to the President.
