Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today called the Government to take immediate steps to transfer MP Ranjan Ramanayake from the Angunukolapelessa prisons to the Welikada prisons due to security reasons.
“Mr Ramanayake has been placed with drug traffickers and those convicted for murder. His life is in danger as he has been speaking against the very same persons”, he said.
He called the Speaker to intervene and get Mr Ramanayake transferred to the Welikada prisons.
Mr Premadasa said he had visited Mr Ramanayake in prisons on Monday.
The opposition leader also demanded a response from the Speaker for his previous request that Mr Ramanayake should be allowed to attend Parliament as he has made an appeal regarding his Parliamentary seat.
