Second jab of Oxford AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to be given from May 1

The second jab of the Oxford AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine will be given to the public from May 1 onwards, State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control, Sudarshini Fernandopulle told the Parliament today.

Responding to an oral question raised by Parliamentarian Thushara Indunil regarding the government’s vaccination initiative, State Minister Fernandopulle noted according to the new scientific data, it is recommended to give the second dose after 12 weeks of the first jab.
