The National Dengue Control Unit has designated 21 Medical Officer of Health (MoH) Divisions as Dengue High Risk Zones.
The unit announced that the number of dengue cases reported in 9 high-risk medical officer divisions is increasing.
The newly identified high risk areas are Piliyandala, Harispattuwa, Ukuwela, Badulla, Kegalle, and Mawanella MoH Divisions.
The highest number of dengue cases reported in the 43rd week of this year is 143 from the Colombo district.
Although there were 7,296 dengue cases reported from the Colombo district during this time period last year, the number has risen to 14,937 this year.
That is an increase of 7,641 patients.
According to the National Dengue Control Unit, the total number of dengue cases reported in the country this year is 62,435, an increase of 40,248 cases over the same period last year.
