Employees of the State Engineering Corporation today (29) held the Chairman of the Corporation Ratnasiri Kalupahana hostage after the Corporation failed to pay the salaries in time.
A tense situation was reported at the State Engineering Corporation after the employees surrounded the Chairman’s office preventing him leaving the room.
Police was also called into resolve the issue.
However, subsequently the chairman assured that the employees would be paid within the day.
Mr. Kalupahana later summoned a press conference and said that the Corporation was now doing well financially compared to the Yahapalna Government period and that he had resolved the salary issue.
However, employees questioned as to why the Corporation failed to pay salaries in time, if it was doing well.
