Student drowns during fieldtrip of tuition class

A student drowned in a hotel pool in Boralessa of Wennappuwa yesterday (December 2), Police said today.

The victim was a Grade 10 student of a school in Sandakalawa who had engaged in a field trip organised by a private tuition class in Pannala Makandura area.

Some 80 students had stayed in a hotel in the Boralessa area of Wennappuwa where the incident took place.

The Police had revealed in investigations that the 14 year old student had drowned, while swimming with another few students in the pool.

The dead body of the student is placed at the Chilaw Hospital, while the Wennappuwa Police are conducting further investigations.

Fuel prices revised

The price of Lanka Petrol 92 Octane has been reduced by Rs. 5, while the price of Lanka Super Diesel Star Euro 4 has been increased by Rs. 5, from midnight today, October 31, 2025, according to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
