The nearest areas over which the sun is overhead today (05) are Thalpe, Walipitiya and Thihagoda at about 12:13 noon. Polonnaruwa and Vavuniya are recording the highest temperature of over 35 degrees.
Earlier this week, the Health Ministry advised the public to remain hydrated and avoid being exposed to direct sunlight. Elderly persons, children and mothers-to-be are more prone to dehydration and heat-related illnesses during warm weather.
