A 39 year old woman died after a man used a sharp object to slit her throat and flee in a car near the Kahathuduwa Interchange on Tuesday.
The woman, an employee of the Civil Aviation Authority, was heading home in Madapatha, when she faced the brutal attack. The daylight crime resulted in blood splattered all over the road.
She was rushed to the Wethara hospital but was declared dead on admission. The deceased was a mother of one.
Kahathuduwa police is investigating the murder.

The Government today tabled in the House the Report of the Commission to Inquiry into the Establishment and Maintenance of Unlawful Places of Detention and Torture Chambers in the Batalanda Housing Scheme.
