Suspended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon who surrendered to the Matara Magistrate's Court earlier in the day has been remanded until tomorrow.
The Matara Magistrate's Court had issued an open warrant for his arrest in connection with a 2023 shooting incident that took place outside the W 15 hotel in Weligama, which resulted in the death of an officer from the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD).
The Court of Appeal on Monday (17) dismissed a writ petition filed by Mr Tennakoon seeking an interim injunction preventing the execution of the arrest order issued by the Matara Magistrate.
