Three suspects who were allegedly transporting 19 cattle without a valid permit were taken into custody yesterday at the Dodangoda Interchange of the Southern Expressway.
The suspects, together with the cattle and the lorry they were being transported in were taken into custody by the Panadura Walana Central Anti-Vice Squad and handed over to the Dodangoda Police.
The arrested suspects are aged between 18 and 55 years and are residents of Ikirigolla and Ragama.
The suspects were produced before the Mathugama Magistrate's Court and remanded in custody till May 19. The court also ordered that the cattle in police custody be handed over to the Nikaweratiya, Poththawala Farm. Dodangoda Police are investigating.
