The Council of the University of Peradeniya has deliberated over four hours on Monday to proposes names for the selection of the next Vice Chancellor.
The position falls vacant when Vice Chancellor Professor M.D.Lamawansa would relinquish his office in August
Three names have been proposed after much deliberations and these names would be submitted for the President for selection.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that of the three names proposed, two are from the faculties.
These three names would be forwarded to the President for his decision as to who would become the 26th Vice Chancellor of the University in the country.
