Brake failure believed to have caused the Ella bus accident
Fifteen people died and 18 were injured in the Ella bus accident, which is suspected to have been caused by a brake failure of the bus. Tangalle Urban Council employees and their families returning from a trip travelled in this bus that fell of a precipice at the 24th kilometre post on the Ella–Wellawaya main road last night.
The President’s Fund allocated Rs. 1 million
Rs. 1 million is to be allocated from the President’s Fund to each family that lost a member in the Ella bus accident.
Kush cannabis worth Rs. 107.5 million was seized
Customs arrested a 43-year-old Indian passenger at Bandaranaike International Airport with 10,750 grams of Kush cannabis, valued at Rs. 107.5 million.
