Nearly 3000 state buildings under utilized
The General Treasury has identified 2,972 government buildings at the Divisional Secretariat level that are abandoned, underutilized, or partially completed.
Four high courts in Colombo 7
The government has decided to establish four high courts in Colombo 7 with immediate effect to execute the activities entrusted with the Ministry of Justice and National Integration as per the Anti–Corruption National Action Plan (2025 – 2029).
Weligama murder suspects arrested
Nine suspects, including the gunman and the motorcycle rider, have been arrested in connection with the murder of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Lasantha Wickramasekara at his office.
Amber weather - strong winds
An ‘Amber’ weather advisory has been issued from 11.00 a.m. today and will be effective for the next 24 hours until 11.00 a.m. on Wednesday for strong winds for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts by the Department of Meteorology.
A short while later, the official car of the Commander of the Navy, bearing plate NAHA 5006, departed from Navy House, Longdon Place, Colombo 7.
