Former Speaker Asoka Ranwala arrested
Former Speaker and NPP MP Asoka Ranwala was arrested today following a road accident in the Denimulla area of Sapugaskanda last night, police said.
Bus driver saved 14 passengers
The driver of a bus Janaka Thushara saved the lives of 14 passengers by carefully steering the vehicle into an embankment after its brakes suddenly failed while travelling along the Badulla–Mahiyanganaya road. The bus belongs to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Depot in Kekirawa, operating from Badulla to Anuradhapura.
Nutrition allowance allocated for pregnant mothers
The government has announced a nutrition allowance of Rs. 5,000 for pregnant mothers who were registered at maternal clinics on or before 30 November 2025.
