CIABOC arrested Welisara sub-office technical officer
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has arrested a technical officer attached to the Welisara sub-office of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha for receiving a bribe of Rs. 50,000 to take the necessary steps to approve a building plan submitted for authorisation despite its deficiencies.
Former Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and seven others' trial January 27
The case filed against former Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and seven others has been fixed for trial on January 27 at the Colombo High Court. They have been accused of misusing funds over Rs 6.1 million belonging to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), under the pretext of providing relief to people displaced by floods in Bingiriya and Narammala areas in 2014, and instead using the funds for presidential election campaigning activities in 2015.
Committee to probe seaplane crash
