One of the two railway tracks on the main Line has now been restored for train services following the collision involving a container truck and an office train near Wilwatta, Mirigama earlier this morning (August 9), Sri Lanka Railways said.
Since 12 trains were set to operate on this line, they have now been diverted to a single track, said the Deputy General Manager of Railways N.J. Indipolage.
However, rail passengers were also warned of possible delays on the main line due to disruptions, he added.
A stream of traffic from Pasyala Junction towards Mirigama and the expressway entrance was witnessed following the accident, but by afternoon the situation had returned to normal.
