The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in a statement released today stated that neither the Turkish Embassy in Colombo nor the Turkish Ministry of Interior are related or connected with manpower recruitment activities.
The media release was issued after hundreds of people were duped by an individual promising job placement in Türkiye. Applicants from all over the country were told to arrive at the J.R.Jayawardena Centre in Colombo today just to be told there is no such recruitment activity taking place. Agitated applicants were seen shouting angrily and acting violently.
“It has been brought to the immediate attention of the Embassy that some misinformation is being circulated in social media according to which Türkiye has been recruiting manpower in Sri Lanka,” the Embassy said.
“The Embassy would like to inform that neither the Turkish Embassy nor the Turkish Ministry of Interior are related or connected with such recruitment activities, seemingly organized by some private individuals,” the Embassy said.
